Hole #17 - Pro Drive Challenge (Nick's Hole)

This hole is special.  It is dedicated to a young man named Nicholas Akina that I met, August 2nd, 2021.  It was my first day marshaling at Centennial Golf course.  Nick and his buddies were playing that day and I had the pleasure to interact with them multiple times throughout their round.  They were all exceptional young men, and we had some good laughs.

Tragically, Nick suffered a medical event on the 17th green.  His friends did everything they could for him until paramedics arrived.  Sadly, Nick passed away.  I think of Nick and his buddies every time I pass by this hole.  It brings a mix of emotions as I think of the loss of such an amazing young man, but also, I can't help but feel a sense of awe at the friendship, love  and compassion these young men showed for their friend in that moment. 

It is fitting the we honor Nick with the Pro Drive, because Nick, was an absolute golf ball crusher!  

Though Nick did not pass from SUDEP or an Eplilepsy related event, as long as his family permits, I will always honor his memory at this event.
