The Lefty For Life CBG Memorial Tournament was borne out of the grief and sadness over the loss of a terrific person and friend Charles Bradley Gunn. A few of his closest friends came together to create an event to help in the grieving process and emotional loss of such an incredible person who touched so many of our lives. Brad, as all of his friends and acquaintances knew him, tragically took his own life after struggling with depression that has affected many of us throughout our own lives.
The first year of the Tournament the initial idea was to gather friends and acquaintances for a fun day of golf and to do so in remembrance of our friend playing the game Brad loved. The Tournament proved to be therapeutic and fun for all and along the way we were able to find terrific corporate sponsors and raise money for charitable purposes.
After a successful Tournament the 2nd year, the Gunn Family and the Founders of the CBG Memorial decided that we needed to strive to accomplish a bigger goal of helping others who struggle with mental health issues, as we all do from time to time in our lives, and to use the proceeds from the Tournament to further this new mission. We are very proud to have partnered with the Mental Health Association of Greensboro to help fund and create programs that will help those in need.
Specifically, we have asked the MHAG to develop resources to support the youth in the Greensboro area. We would like to help provide an avenue for teenagers who are experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, or self-image and esteem issues to have access to resources and guidance to help during their troubled times.
We appreciate your support for this endeavor as we know it will not be easy but could be life-changing for a young person who may otherwise not feel like they have an option or place to get help in their lives.
