“Let’s Take a Swing at Cancer” Golf Tournament is pleased to present…
“Let’s Take a Drive at Cancer” Fundraiser!

We are living in unprecedented times and are all learning to adapt to a new normal.  We hope that you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe.

This year was to mark the 17th year of “Let’s Take a Swing at Cancer” Golf Tournament and despite the unknown times, we want to make sure we continue to do our part in the fight against cancer.  Because let’s face it, cancer doesn’t stop just because of COVID-19 and so many people continue to face this challenge each day.

So like the rest of the world, we are adapting to our current “normal” and are pleased to present to you the “Let’s Take a Drive at Cancer” fundraiser!

On May 23rd, we are asking you to join us for a fun activity to raise funds for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.  Get out of your house for a good cause while remaining socially distanced!

The Event!

The event is a quasi scavenger hunt where participants will visit 9 locations and take pictures and post to a social media platform with the hashtag #driveatcancer. There will be a prize for the “winner” - the winner will be the person that gets the most likes on their post.  So have a little fun with your selfies!

Cost of participation is $50 per car.

All proceeds go directly to the ORCF and sponsors/participants can get a direct receipt from the charity.

The Schedule

9 am - 12 noon

Some of our sponsors will be "at their holes" starting at 9 am.  You can start later than 9 am, but the event will finish at noon.

In 2004 the Herman Hansen Memorial Golf Tournament was founded in memory of Ed’s father Herman Hansen, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2001 and then sadly passed away in August 2003. It is our goal to raise money and awareness in support of the ongoing work of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.

After 16 years the tournament has raised almost $330,000 and our goal is to raise even more this year.

This year’s event is brought to you by Gifford Carr Insurance Group, Ed Hansen of Hansen Lawn and Gardens Inc., Steve Lacroix of A. Lacroix Heavy Equipment Rentals, Duane Francis of Mandeville Private Client Inc. and Pro Printers.

The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation is dedicated to increasing cancer survivorship in Eastern Ontario by working to fill the gaps in services for cancer patients and their families. The Cancer Foundation partners with local organizations and hospitals to ensure residents have the best care close to home, shorter wait times for diagnosis and treatment, access to research and the latest new therapies and overall improved quality of life.
