University of Scranton graduate Sara Farrell Hutchison passed away after a tragic car accident in 2021. Born in Scranton, Sara was the daughter of James C. and Dr. Marian L. Rosler Farrell.

She was a 2004 graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University in 2008. Sara devoted herself to her children Hailey, Mia and Jordan. She enjoyed time with her family and siblings, Jessica Farrell ‘02, Dan Farrell ‘03, G’08 and Rebecca Farrell ‘24. Her mom, University nursing faculty Dr. Marian Farrell, along with Sara’s husband, Father, family and friends, have endowed a scholarship in her name that will benefit students in her memory.

All proceeds of this event will benefit the Sara Farrell Hutchison '08 Memorial Scholarship. The Sara Farrell Hutchison ‘08 Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to non-traditional female students studying any of the graduate nursing programs. “Non-traditional student” is defined, for the purpose of the scholarship, as a student who is returning to school to pursue her education after an absence, or for an advanced degree, something which Sara had hoped to do as a graduate student.
