About the Lake Trust Foundation

Your support of the Lake Trust Foundation helps Michigan.

Impact takes all of us. By working together and supporting one another, we can build and sustain stronger communities. The Lake Trust Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that exists to make a positive impact in Michigan through grants, donations, outreach programs, and scholarships. Our work supports underserved populations through empowering entrepreneurs, enabling youth in the foster care system to thrive, fostering economic equity through programs that narrow disparities, supporting stable housing initaitives, and strenthening community resilience for everything from challenges in our neighborhoods to recovering from community disasters. 

Support from the Lake Trust Foundation has contributed to local revitalization efforts, given back to small businesses, and offered hope for those in need. From awarding over $690,000 in grants and donations, to providing over 600,00 meals to area food banks and financially supporting food security initiatives, we’ve worked together with our supporters to make an impact. Since 2013, we've been able to award a total of 61 scholarships through our two scholarship programs to individuals in Michigan, equating to a cumulative total of $1.8 million. Through generous donations and partnerships, the Lake Trust Foundation can continue supporting impactful causes that improve the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities in Michigan.

 

The impact of your sponsorship.

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, over $100,000 in proceeds were raised during our golf invitational in 2023. These funds had a direct impact on local communities and helped support the following organizations:

• Scholarship program: In 2023, we awarded a total cumulative value of over $123,000 in scholarships to help advance the trades and in-demand careers in Michigan. Since 2013, we have awarded a cumulative total value of over $1.8M in scholarships.
• Community Housing Network: The Lake Trust Foundation awarded a $12,000 grant to the Community Housing Network’s Basic Needs Program. The Basic Needs Program provides direct assistance to help people get and maintain their housing. This includes, but is not limited to, security deposits, utility arrearages, ID documents, furniture, transportation to healthcare and employment, or emergency rental assistance.
• The Pink Fund: The Lake Trust Foundation awarded a $12,500 grant to the Pink Fund’s Financial Bridge program, which covers up to $3,000 worth of expenses per person over a 90-day period for housing, transportation, utilities, and healthcare expenses to reduce financial hardships associated with breast cancer. The Lake Trust Foundation’s support of this program will allow women receiving breast cancer treatment to continue to pay bills and other expenses while receiving treatment for breast cancer, reducing financial stress so they can focus on recovery.
• University of Michigan Impact Investing Group : The Lake Trust Foundation provided a $12,500 grant to the University of Michigan’s student-run Impact Investing Group’s Microfinance Fund. The Microfinance Fund supports equitable revitalization in local communities by providing low-interest microloans to minority-owned businesses in the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit areas as well as business consulting services to further ensure businesses’ success.
• Community Catalysts: The Lake Trust Foundation provided a $5,000 donation to support Community Catalysts’ housing efforts. Community Catalysts funds and develops affordable housing for seniors, veterans, and other populations experiencing homelessness.
• Powered by Good Day: On Powered by Good Day in October 2023, Lake Trust team members volunteered a total of 1,003 hours to 27 organizations across Michigan and donated a total of $63,000 to Michigan nonprofits.
