15th Annual BCICA Mesothelioma Golf Tournament

It’s time to practice your golf swing and connect with industry friends and colleagues for the 15th Annual BCICA Mesothelioma Golf Tournament. All skill levels are welcome, from the novice golfer to the golf pro. All that's required is enthusiasm and a willingness to have fun!

This event is hosted each year to help raise awareness and funds for Mesothelioma research. Mesothelioma is a cancer that can be caused by asbestos exposure and has touched the lives of so many in our industry.

BCICA is proud to have raised over $500,000 to date for the Western Canada Mesothelioma Fund at BC Cancer. Funds have supported the groundbreaking work of Dr. Stephen Lam, Dr. Renelle Myers and colleagues at BC Cancer in the early detection of Mesothelioma and lung cancer. They are developing a novel breath test to detect lung cancer. Funds raised have been used to purchase a sophisticated piece of equipment to analyze volatile organic compounds from lung specimens to identify chemicals in exhaled breath that are unique to the lung. Funds are also being used to start a pilot LDCT and breath screening study for people who have never smoked but are at risk for lung cancer, such as those with heavy exposure to asbestos or radon, or a family history of cancer in one or more immediate family members who are between the age of 50 to 74 for males and 45 to 74 for females.
