Chief Robert "Bubba"  Seaman

Chief Robert Seaman, affectionally known as Bubba, passed away from 9/11 related Cancer on March 3, 2023, at the age of 57. He was a beloved, firefighter of the Rockville Centre Fire Department, employee of the P.C. Richard & Son, Inc. and a  member of the Rockville Centre Community.  He responded to the World Trade Center September 11, 2001 attack to participate in the national rescue and recovery effort alongside fellow members of the RVC Fire Department.  He is remembered fondly as a kind and caring gentleman who frequently assisted numerous community organizations of all types throughout Nassau County and the Village of Rockville Centre.
 
Chief Seaman was known throughout the County as a courageous and effective leader, firefighter and mentor to his fellow colleagues in the fire services.  He joined Live Oak Engine Company One in June 1989.  Actively serving his beloved fire company over the next 34 years as a firefighter, Captain from 1995 to 1997 and Captain again from 1999 to 2001.  He continued to serve as the Chief Fire Inspector until being elected to the Chiefs Office as an assistant chief in 2011.  He served as Chief of the Rockville Centre Fire Department from 2015 till 2017.  He was both a RVCFD warden and delegate to the 4th Battalion Fire Commission (encompassing the fire services of Rockville Centre, East Rockaway, Lakeview, Lynbrook and Malverne communities) before his passing. His leadership and mentorship will surely be missed by his brothers and sisters in the fire services throughout the county.
 
In addition, Bubba was a beloved member of the business community through his employment for over 35 years in the P.C. Richard & Son, Inc. Charitable organizations, Fire/Police organizations and numerous local Businesses sought out his help in securing donations or assistance to ensure a successful event. He always treated everyone with the highest patience, courteous and professional manner in guiding them towards the best products and/or services to meet their needs.

Those who knew Bubba found him always focused on the concerns and needs of his family, friends, and the community.  An additional project he was looking forward to undertaking before his untimely passing was developing a funding source for the repair and maintenance of the Live Oak's 1937 Ahrens Fox Fire Engine which continues to serve at community events, parades and firefighters' funerals.
