Thank you for joining us for our annual Golf Classic and golfing "fore" the kids.
This annual event is the primary fundraiser for our Kiwanis Club and helps us support kids in the Monroe and Sky Valley communities.
The support of our sponsors and golfers has enabled us to give out $2,500 in scholarships to local service-minded graduating seniors. Additionally, we have been able to help support our Monroe High School Key Club members attend leadership training opportunities where they can gain leadership skills that will benefit them for life.
Additionally, this year we've started a project to "level the playing field" for kids. We started by partnering with the City of Monroe to provide communication boards at local parks so non-speaking kids have a way to communicate with other kids. Under this project theme, we also partnered with the Monroe School District to put together 250 book bags filled with books and fun activities for kids in 2nd and 3rd grade who were identified as critically behind on their reading skills to support them getting on grade level. We also support local organizations focused on serving the kids in our community like the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, and Take the Next Step.
Since 1928 the Kiwanis Club of Monroe has been making a difference in our community with major projects like helping to start the Evergreen State Fair and the Sky Valley Food Bank. Today, our club is focused on finding the emerging needs of the youth in our community, and with your support, we can continue to help meet these needs.
