NAIT scholarships and bursaries help bridge the financial gap for most students who rely on a blend of savings, income, government loans and student awards to cover the cost of school. With ever-increasing costs of living, along with increasing tuition and program fees, students are feeling more financial pressure than ever before.
The Tom Goodchild Memorial Bursary will help cover costs for a culinary student in financial need.
Receiving this award will help the student stay in school, free up time to learn rather than work and allow them the space to do as well as possible in their program.
Tom was a true hospitalitarian who began his restaurant career at age 14 at the King Edward Hotel in Edmonton. Equally fitting he was a graduate of NAIT's hospitality management program and amassed 22 restaurants over his 57-year career.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to endow the bursary - this means not only will Tom's name live on in perpetuity, but students will be helped with $1,000 bursaries, year after year after year. Money received beyond our goal will go towards a second bursary.
