The Annual Charity Golf Classic, proudly brought to you once again by the Basalt Lions Club, stands as a testament to our commitment to community service. Collaborating with Aspen Glen Golf Club, we join forces with the Basalt Lions Club—a well-established nonprofit that continually enriches the Roaring Fork Valley through its diverse array of events and philanthropy.
Having been a steadfast presence in Basalt for 66 years, the Lions Club embodies the spirit of giving, dedicating both time and resources to bettering the Roaring Fork Valley and extending aid to Lions Club International initiatives across the globe. Since 1957, the Basalt Lions Club has woven itself into the fabric of the community, extending its support to those less fortunate throughout the valley. Our contributions encompass a range of causes, including backing the Colorado Lions Camp for youth with disabilities, supporting the Colorado Lions Eye Bank in Denver, and lending our hand to various national charitable endeavors.
Within our local sphere, we extend a helping hand by supplying eyeglasses to those in need, particularly our youth. We extend free eye screenings to preschoolers, offer scholarships to graduating seniors, and champion an assortment of youth-focused programs. Last years tournament was such a success we were able to extend an additional scholarship to a 2024 graduating senior! Throughout the 2023 and 2024 academic years, we've conducted over 100+ eye screenings for preschool and elementary school children within the valley. Furthermore, our efforts have assisted children identified through these screenings with minor or major eye issues, ensuring they receive the necessary care.
A significant feather in our cap is the initiation of the Basalt Recreation Program, which we eventually handed over to the Town of Basalt several years ago. Our pancake breakfasts have also become a cherished tradition, as we collaborate with other nonprofits to provide nourishing meals at their events.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support and we look forward to seeing you on the greens.
This years Charity Golf Tournament will be a "Step Aside Scramble."
Here's How It Works:
All 4 players to tee off at every hole, the best shot is selected and the player whose shot is selected "steps aside" for the next shot.
All other players then pay the next shot from the position of the selected ball, placing within one club length of the original ball position (and within a scorecard on the putting green), nor nearer the hole.
The same procedure is used on all shots, including putts. This process continues until the ball is holed and srarts over at the net hole.
