Familial Dysautonomia Foundation: the leader in FD treatment and research

The FD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports medical research and treatment for children and adults afflicted with Familial Dysautonomia (FD). Our mission is to raise funds and operate programs to pursue the best possible medical treatment, scientific research, public education and social services for the benefit of those affected with or at risk for familial dysautonomia.

FD is a Jewish genetic disease that is always life threatening and sometimes fatal. Those afflicted with FD can’t feel heat or cold or pain. They lack even the most basic normal reflexes, and often experience severe cardiovascular, pulmonary, orthopedic, gastrointestinal and renal problems. Frequent hospitalizations and multiple surgeries are common. Crying without tears is one of the most striking symptoms of FD.
