Ryan Bethune Memorial

The Ryan Bethune Memorial Golf Tournament was founded in 2017 to honor the memory of the late Ryan Bethune who suddenly passed away at the young age of 31. In lieu of such a devastating loss for our family, we sought to celebrate his memory by continuing on what Ryan had already started- his very own golf tournament. A day for all those whos love for golf could play out with those who understand the freeing feeling of the game that Ryan loved so much. Anyone and everyone who knew Ryan knew he was a sports enthused giant whos devotion to golfing was undeniable. His incredable power off the tee and a bang on putt left him planning his appoach into the senior PGA one day. Nothing in the world made Ryan happier then being out on the back nine with sun on his shoulders and a cold beer in his hand, that is unless he was having a rough game. In that case no driver,putter or wedge stood a chance. 

Ryan was an all around active guy, who enjoyed being involved in the community. He could be found catching a hockey game at the local pub, playing a game of shinny on the outdoor rink or taking in a football game with friends. There wasnt a sport he wasnt good at, or a game he couldnt find a reason not to watch.

The Ryan Bethune Memorial Tournament stands to support the future education of Ryans little girl, Emerlee Matty Bethune. Fulfilling the hopes and dreams he had for his little princess one day. The fund has also joined forces with Jump Start for Kids- "Giving Kids a Sporting Chance" A portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to allowing Edmonton & area kids to particpate as well provide equitment for sports to those who other wise would not have the chance to play. 

Ryan was a coach at heart. From teaching hockey, playing a game of scrimmage to tying the snuggest hockey skate around his heart was made to help others. We keep his generous spirt alive though helping those who other wise wouldnt get the opportunity to. In doing so we know Ryan is smiling down on us as we contuine what he started.
