Fall is a perfect time to enjoy some time on the golf course while supporting a fantastic cause, in support of our veterans and their children.  For more information about WMSF, please visit our main site here.

The Event: The 2nd Annual Weikel Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will be held on Friday, November 15th, with a shotgun start scramble beginning at 12:00PM, followed by a Beer Dinner and Awards Ceremony!

The Benefit: Jarrad Anthony Weikel was a member of the Stoney Creek Homebrewers (SCH) for nearly a decade when he passed away unexpectedly in February 2022.  He was only 40 years old, and we lost him far too soon.  In the hope of providing a suitable memorial for a man of science and a Marine, SCH established the Jarrad A. Weikel Scholarship Committee to raise funds to endow an annual scholarship in his name.  The scholarship will be awarded to a veteran (or the child of a veteran), with demonstrated need, who is studying for a career in the medical or scientific fields.

The Course: Kimberton Golf Club opened in 1962, and boasts a design by renowned course architect George Fazio.  It is well regarded as a creative and playable course that the whole family can enjoy.

About Jarrad

Jarrad earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University.  After college, he enlisted in the Marines where he served two combat tours in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Jarrad was always willing to give of his time for veterans in need. He was a member of the Phoenixville VFW Post 1564 where he would volunteer at their benefit events, and drive veterans to their appointments. At the time of his passing, he was studying for an advanced degree in pharmacy.

Jarrad was an accomplished home brewer, and eagerly shared both his knowledge and his beer and mead with SCH and with the wider brewing community.  Those who knew him frequently commented on his generosity, his knowledge and creativity, and his affable nature.  We will remember him, and through this scholarship his legacy will support students who share his passion for lifelong learning and devotion to service.
