4th Annual Lake of the Woods DiffAbilty Golf Tournament Presented by O.D.S.C. LLC

Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports invites you to be part of our Annual DiffAbility Charity Golf Tournament, our largest and most important fundraiser of the year. Whether you join us as a golfer, sponsor, donor, or supporter, your participation helps make it possible for veterans, children, adults, and individuals of all different abilities to experience unforgettable days on the water, completely free of charge.

Our tournament is about more than a great day of golf. It is an opportunity for local businesses, community members, and golfers to come together, have fun, gain valuable community exposure, and support a mission that directly impacts thousands of smiles. We are looking for golfers ready to hit the course, businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities, and individuals or organizations willing to donate products, services, gift cards, prizes, or financial contributions.

For our sponsors, this tournament offers an opportunity to put your business in front of golfers, participants, volunteers, supporters, and members of our local community while demonstrating your commitment to an organization making a difference right here in our region. Sponsorship recognition opportunities vary by level and may include tournament signage, golf cart advertising, scorecards, social media promotion, printed materials, scavenger hunt participation, specialty holes, and additional recognition throughout the event. We want our sponsors to receive meaningful exposure while knowing their investment is helping make our programs possible.

For our golfers, we are planning a day that combines friendly competition, great company, plenty of fun, and a cause worth playing for. Grab your friends, coworkers, clients, or favorite golf partners and put together a team. Come prepared to compete, laugh, enjoy some unique tournament challenges, and help us raise the funds needed to keep our adaptive watersports events going strong.

Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2016 to provide veterans, individuals with disabilities and different abilities, and their families and caregivers the opportunity to enjoy a day on the lake. Participants have the opportunity to experience activities including adaptive waterskiing, tubing, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet ski rides, ZUP boarding, games, crafts, and much more. We also provide lunch for participants and their families and caregivers. Everything we provide is completely free to those we serve.

We proudly use the term “DiffAbility,” a blend of “different” and “ability,” because our focus is on ability, opportunity, and inclusion. Our events are designed to give participants the chance to try something new, challenge themselves, spend time with their families, and simply enjoy an incredible day on the water without worrying about the cost.

For many years, our organization was funded primarily through donations, including donated boats that volunteers repaired and sold to support our programs. As boat values and the cost of operating our events increased following COVID, those donations became much less common. We knew that if we wanted to continue growing our programs and keeping them free, we needed to find new ways to fund our mission. Our DiffAbility Charity Golf Tournament has become a critical part of that effort.

The money raised through this tournament directly supports our programs. Proceeds help purchase new adaptive equipment, repair and maintain existing equipment, provide fuel for the boats used during our events, provide lunch for participants and volunteers, maintain necessary insurance coverage, and pay the everyday expenses required to safely operate our organization and events.

We cannot do it alone. Our programs are possible because businesses, golfers, volunteers, boat owners, donors, and community members choose to step up and become part of what we do. Some give their time. Some provide their boats and equipment. Some sponsor our tournament. Some donate prizes. Some simply gather a foursome and spend a great day on the golf course supporting a great cause. Every one of them makes a difference.

We are currently seeking golfers, tournament sponsors, prize sponsors, specialty-hole sponsors, business sponsors, and donations of products, services, gift cards, experiences, and cash prizes. There are opportunities to participate at a variety of levels, making it easy for individuals and businesses of all sizes to get involved.
