This years honorary: Ed Saad
Jan. 25, 1923 to Nov. 19, 2018
Every year Fore St. Pete’s Sake memorializes a treasured person from our parish family. This year we honor Ed Saad and his family: his wife Alice, their four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, all of whom Ed loved dearly.
Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, Ed was given refugee status in the U.S. in 1948. He became a naturalized citizen, a role he fulfilled with seriousness and great pride. Ed was a world-renowned architect, starting his US career in 1955, working for Eero Saarinen in Bloomfield Hills, MI. In the ‘60s, Ed opened his own firm, Edward Saad & Associates Architects in Cheshire. Locally, Ed has an impressive roster of significant architectural works. He was especially proud of his school projects for special-needs students, where his carefully conceived architectural solutions transformed children's lives. He and Alice were long-time patrons of New Haven and Hartford theater, and were adventurous travelers.
Ed's gentle grace lives on at St. Peter's through many of his labors of love for the church. His work included the design of our parish hall, renovation of the bell tower, and the architectural work for the replacement of our roof and education wing windows. We are humbled to honor Ed's legacy in the 7th annual Fore Pete's Sake Golf Tournament.
