Human Trafficking is mostly done for the purpose of sexual exploitation. It is the second largest criminal industry in the world and unfortunately is the number one fastest growing. Texas ranks second in the U.S. in reported cases. In Dallas/Fort Worth, the commercial sex industry annually generates $98.8 million dollars.
The Poiema Foundation, a local non-profit, educates the public and raises awareness in order to prevent sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and other methods of sexual exploitation. Poiema also helps survivors “leave the life” and begin recovery through a trauma-informed care program and residential housing that provides food, shelter and security.
Through your generous support of the 2020 Bent Tree Bible Golf Tournament Poiema is able to do more in your community to fight against human trafficking, and restore those who have been trafficked and are on their journey from victim to survivor.
