About Camp STARS

Camp STARS was started in 1994 and is part of Visiting Nurse Health Systems/Hospice Atlanta's Community Outreach.  The camp takes place twice a year at the Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA.

Hospice Atlanta understands that death is an integral part of life. When someone dies, people grieve and may struggle to cope with life without their loved one.  Camp STARS is designed to help people understand that they are not alone and that their feelings of loss are normal. The camp provides a safe environment for children and adults to be able to share their feelings, to meet others in similar situations, and to learn how to grieve in an emotionally healthy way.

For almost 25 years, our Camp STARS bereavement camps have been supporting children and adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one by death.  To learn more about Camp STARS please visit here.  Photos from the November 2018 camp are below.

VNHS and Hospice Atlanta is the largest non profit provider of home health care, long term care and hospice services for the Atlanta metropolitan area seeing about 6000 patients a day.  It offers Georgia's first pediatric hospice as well.  It is truly a safety net for the community providing about $4 million dollars in charity care each year, never turning anyone away for an inability to pay for services.  With government and insurance reimbursements declining and costs of care rising, the Atlanta community benefits greatly from this organization's work.  In the coming decades, organizations like VNHS/Hospice Atlanta are going to rely increasingly more on local community support to continue to deliver the vital services and programs that benefits the community so greatly.   We appreciate your consideration in support of Camp STARS and VNHS/Hospice Atlanta.
