On August 4^th, 2018, our good friend Brandon had an accident at the coast, where he sustained a Spinal Cord Injury, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.  His recovery to this point has been nothing but miraculous.  It’s important to highlight the physical progress he’s made over the last four years, but it’s also important to highlight his other accomplishments.  Since the last tournament, Brandon was able to purchase a pair of glasses giving him access to his computer, and a set of sand-friendly tracks that gives him access to the beach!  He also has been able to explore alternative therapies that are not covered by insurance.

In addition to his physical progress, and finding accessible items to live life again, Brandon and Angi have progressed spiritually.  To have peace in this situation is an answered prayer.  We continue to rejoice and give glory to God for all He has done for them, but we also want to praise Him for filling their hearts with peace.  Progress and healing continue for them both physically, spiritually, and mentally.

The love and commitment that Brandon and Angi have for one another has been nothing short of inspiring.  When we say our “I Do’s” along with “in sickness and in health”, we never truly expect to face the negative end of those extremes.  If you ever find yourself facing that situation, all you must do, is look to Brandon and Angi and understand how to live out those vows in grace and love.

The outpouring of support from the community through prayer and other acts of service has been amazing, and we know that without the love, support, and prayers from you, Brandon and Angi wouldn’t have made the progress they have so far.  Over the last four years, we have seen people build wheelchair ramps, provide meals, and renovate his bathroom.  People have shown up to create a space for him at home and have gone above and beyond to help Brandon experience all that life has to offer.

Our small group (in which Brandon is a member) started Close to Home several years ago and we host an annual golf tournament to support the charity.  However, this year, we have chosen to support Brandon and Angi by helping to alleviate some of the financial burden they’re going to face during his recovery.

Brandon’s nickname within our group is “B”, and our motto since the accident on August 4^th has been #BStrong.  We invite you to join us on October 14^th as part of the third #BStrong Golf Tournament. We are proud to say that 100% of the proceeds will go to Brandon and Angi to help cover medical expenses, therapies that aren’t covered by insurance, and equipment for at-home use.
