The Caito Family Foundation is pleased to host the 6th Annual "Cure for CF Golf Classic” at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, VA on May 7th, 2027. This tournament’s purpose is to raise awareness and money to fund the work and research needed to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

Details on the Cure for CF Golf Classic:

Friday, May 7, 2026

Registration begins at 8AM; Shotgun Start at 9:30AM

Early Registration Foursome Cost: $840 (If registering a foursome after March 1, Foursome cost is $860)

Early Registration Single Player Cost: $210 (If registering a single player after March 1, Single Player cost is $215)

Registration includes the following:

18 holes of golf, green and cart fees, breakfast, lunch on course, beverages and snacks, post reception drinks and dinner catered by BJ's Brewhouse, range balls, as well as opportunities to win prizes for each flight, closest to the pin, longest drive, and other various challenges throughout the day plus a swag bag.

Breakfast: Donuts, Muffins and Coffee

Lunch on the course - Hot Dogs, BBQ Sandwiches, cole slaw, potato salad, toppings, etc. (subject to change)

Drinks on the course - Pre-Stocked Coolers at Cart Staging Area to include Soft Drinks, Beer, Gatorade and Water.

Two (2) Roaming Beverage Carts On Course; unlimited Soft Drinks, Beer, Gatorade, Water and Snacks.

Post Reception: to take place at Magnolia Ballroom (Terrace) from 2:30-4:30PM - BJ's Brewhouse to provide dinner for all attendees with an open bar to be inclued at reception.

All proceeds raised for the Cure for CF Golf Classic will go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org). The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world's leader in the search for a cure, funding promising research and working to provide access to quality, specialized care and treatments for people with CF. As many of you know, Zac and Stacey Caito are proud parents of three children—Ellie, Camden, and Claire. Their youngest, Claire, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at just two weeks old. This tournament is held with the hope that a cure will be found—not only for Claire but for all those who bravely face this disease every day. The Caito Family Foundation is committed to donating 100% of the proceeds from this event to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, supporting their mission to find a cure and improve the lives of those affected.

To date, the Caito Family Foundation has donated over $210,000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, thanks to the unwavering support of our family, friends, colleagues, and all who share our mission. With your help, we’ve successfully hosted five tournaments, and we look forward to making 2027 our best year yet!

Information about Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) research and care in 2026 are defined by a powerful shift toward genetic therapies and mutation-agnostic treatments. While cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) modulators continue to dramatically improve daily health for most patients, current clinical trials are heavily focused on the roughly 10% of the CF population who carry rare or non-responsive mutations . To bridge this gap, organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation have substantially increased funding for genetic correction, including a $13 million commitment in mid-2026 specifically targeting splicing mutations [1].

A major bottleneck in curing CF has always been safely delivering genetic material directly into lung cells, a hurdle that 2026 technologies are actively overcoming. Recent therapeutic milestones include a $7.3 million funding award to Ride Therapeutics to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) in designing advanced gene delivery vehicles. Concurrently, ReCode Therapeutics received expanded backing to scale its tissue-specific lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology. These non-viral delivery platforms are successfully packing mRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 machinery into aerosolized treatments, allowing healthy CFTR genes to be introduced directly into airway tissue regardless of a patient's underlying genetic mutation.

In the clinical space, mutation-agnostic trials are showing tangible momentum. For example, interim Phase 1 trial data presented at major 2026 medical congresses for inhaled therapies like Krystal Biotech's KB407 have demonstrated the feasibility of delivering functional CFTR genes via nebulizer. Coupled with real-world data showing that early-initiation modulator therapy is significantly pushing expected survival ages into adulthood, the immediate focus of the medical community is ensuring that these next-generation genetic corrections achieve equity for all individuals living with CF.
