Get Involved!

YOU can get involved and impact young lives!  

• Mentor a child at Gordon Parks - Through this wonderful program, you are matched up with a student whom you visit over the lunch hour on a weekly basis.  Play games, read, talk, eat lunch together and build a life-long relationship that will postiively impact a child for the rest of his/her life.  
   
• Volunteer for projects and events at Gordon Parks - Round up your friends, familiy and co-workers and join us for special projects - painting a classroom, building bookshelves, raking leaves, etc.  Or, help with one of our events such as decorate pumpkins with a classroom, or serve Christmas dinner to our children and families.

• Sign up to adopt a family at Christmas.  100% of the children at Gordon Parks receive free and reduced lunch.  Your generosity will help them and their famiies experience Christmas.  For more information on our Adopt-A-Family program, please contact Mica Weaver at mweaver@gpes.org or call her at (816) 753-6700, ext. 1014.
   
• Host a clothing or school supply drive!  Many of our families struggle to provide school supplies and clothing for their children.  You can host a drive for school supplies and clothing with your family or co-workers.  Khaki pants, socks, shoes, underwear, coats, mittens and hats are welcome throughout the year.  Sizes 4T - 16.  Please deliver these to Gordon Parks Elementary School, 3715 Wyoming Street, Kansas City,  MO 64111
