Adrienne Harlow
Golf Fore a Cure is honored to welcome Ms. Adrienne Harlow as our featured guest speaker.
Ms. Harlow was diagnosed with breast cancer while in college. This is her story.
"I was 19 years old when I was diagnosed. Just before my 20th birthday. I found my lump in July 2007 and had it removed in February 2008. During those 7 months I saw 4 doctors, all of them telling me there was no way I could have breast cancer because of my age and I had no family history. Two of them actually misdiagnosed me with fibrocystic breasts. I finally convinced a specialist to do a bioposy and it turned out to be Stage 1 Invasive Dual Carcinoma, ER/Positive, HER2 Negative. My doctors told me that my persistence saved my life. If I would have waited 6 more months, I would have stage 4 breast cancer and might not be here today.
My message is that breast cancer doesn't discriminate. It doesn't matter your age, race or gender"
Lauren Wakefield
Golf Fore a Cure is very excited to have Ms. Lauren Wakefield, international wedding and portrait photographer and breast cancer survivor photographing the days events.
For the last five years she has shared her passion for capturing emotion and documenting life with countless families and couples. Her photography is authentic and timeless and allows you to not only remember the moment...but feel it. Lauren believes whole-heartedly in what she does and hopes to continue spreading happiness through her photography for many years to come.
In 2012, Lauren was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 26. As you can imagine, this was a shock to both her and her loved ones. When she started chemo her best friend, Sidne, gave her a pair of crazy, spiky, blue, glittery high heels and called them her chemo shoes. Because in those shoes she would kick cancer's butt. Which is exactly what she did. Three years later, knowing just how powerful those shoes were, Lauren and Sidne started Healing Heels. A shoe company dedicated to inspiring hope, courage and overall awesomeness in women everywhere. They hope that one day these shoes will line the feet of courageous women all over the world...and can bring a little light to an otherwise dark time. Sidne and Lauren know first hand...that the right pair of shoes really can change your life.
