The Hunter Wilkerson Memorial Fund proudly supports the youth of Midlothian and Ellis County, TX. It has been a focus of ours to help improve education opportunities of teens so they are encouraged to graduate high school, then go onto college. This is why we have chosen for the proceeds from the 2019 tournament to go towards:

• Scholarship opportunities for Midlothian High School and Midlothian Heritage High School 
• Mentors Care Program - which works closely with school administrators and teachers to pair teens that are at risk for not graduating with a mentor whom the student meets with regularly. The mentor serves as a motivator for the student by reviewing grades and assignments to ensure they are improving academically all while providing the student with a caring friend in the process. The Mentors Care program is currently in five high schools including Midlothian, Midlothian Heritage, Maypearl, Red Oak and Palmer with plans to expand in efforts to support as many students as possible.  For more information testimonies on Mentors Care, we encourage you to visit their website at http://mentors.care

As most family and friends of Hunter know, he was not the most motivated student since he was diagnosed with ADHD in the second grade. He was also 100% boy and would rather be outside hunting, fishing or hanging out with friends instead of doing homework. If it weren’t for the support from his parents and sister, he may have not even graduated high school on time. As his mother often joked, “Hunter, you did not graduate high school, WE graduated high school.” Many students in the surrounding area are not as blessed as Hunter was with the support that his family gave him, this is why these programs listed above are so near and dear to our hearts in addition to Hunter's dedication to helping others.
