KYHA 2025 Golf Tournament: Lake Sunapee Country Club   |   Thursday August 14, 2025

Tourney Format & Rules

Welcome to KYHA’s Annual Golf Tournament!   In the spirit of our organization’s objectives we hope that everyone will embrace “… the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty…” today.  In other words, let’s have a great day, play some golf, and have fun!

The tournament will begin promptly at noon with a shotgun start and will follow the rules of a Scramble format as outlined below.  There are also a couple of opportunities to get “Special Help” also described below.  We will wrap up the day with an Awards Ceremony, raffle drawings, and announce the Silent Auction winners.

Scramble Tournament Rules

  • In a scramble, all four team members tee off on each hole, decide which tee shot they like the best, and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker.
  • All other team members pick up their balls and place them within one scorecard length of the marked spot to take their next shot, no closer to the hole.
  • If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard, the rough, or out of bounds, you cannot drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one scorecard length away.
  • This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the holes, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green also.
  • Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot and no closer to the hole. The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.
  • Each team must use at least two of each team member's tee shots.
  • Men tee off from the white tees and women from the red tees.
  • To speed play (all day) 2 putts allowed per green. Example: You're on the green in regulation and miss two putts, DO NOT PUTT FOR BOGEY!  TAKE BOGEY AS YOUR TEAM'S SCORE.
Exception: You're on the green in 2 on a par 5, you miss two putts, you must putt for par!
  • For the sake of time, choose a team captain who will make final decisions

Extra Help

Mulligans. Mulligans can be purchased for your team at the registration table and may be used by each member of your team to replay any shot, at any time.  Each member is allowed one Mulligan during the tournament.  If your mulligan results in a better score on the hole, please indicate on the scorecard by circling the score on that hole. (Mulligans may not be used to win Closest to the Pin or Long Drive contests but can be used on those holes if desired.)

Special Strings. Special Strings (a set of 3) can be purchased for your team at the registration table and each string may be used once on any hole.  You must decide which string is to be used before any shot has landed on the green (before hitting your approach shot or before teeing off on a par 3). The string effectively makes the hole larger. If a ball stops within the length of the chosen string to the hole, you may count it as in the hole. When a Special String is used, please indicate on the scorecard by circling the score on that hole.  Each string may be used once and only once.
