Studies have documented that underprivileged and underserved youth overwhelmingly do not have introduction or exposure to non-traditional careers, such as careers available in aviation. Love at First Flight seeks to alter this paradigm by unveiling to interested and inquisitive young people – whose families may be limited by their lower socioeconomic status – attainable possibilities that change lives and generations. We invite you to join us in this quest.
Check-in at 12 p.m. at which time you can pick up your player gift package, and a quick lunch. Everyone will be invited to buy mulligans, raffle tickets and view our awesome auction which will offer an array of interesting items and one-of-a-kind experiences. Then head to the range to warm up your game.
Play begins with an 1 p.m. shotgun start, with snacks and refreshments made avalable during the round. You will compete in contests such as the longest drive, closest to the pin, putting, and hole-in-one, with chances to win prizes such as $10,000 in cash, various gift certificates, HDTV, Yeti Coolers, VIP Ticket professional sporting/entertainment event package, and a five-day Ocean Cruise package!
All proceeds from this event will be used to provide scholarships to deserving at the OBAP Luke Weathers Jr. Flight Academy. We strive to help children develop healthy habits, build new skills, make friends, and eat a reliable, hearty meal every day of the summer. Love at First Flight has supported hundreds of local kids with its summer reading, math, and STEM clubs, now is your chance to help the next generation. Love at First Flight is a 501C3 nonprofit located in Memphis, TN. all donations are tax deductible per IRS guidelines. The all-new OBAP Lieutenant Colonel Luke Weathers Jr. Flight Academy (LWFA), located at the Olive Branch Airport, just minutes from Memphis, offers exciting training and exposure to opportunities for deserving students from the surrounding areas. In its first year of operation, the LWFA has already trained students to earn six Private Pilot Licenses, one Commercial Pilot License, three Certified Flight Instructors, two Certified Flight Instructor - Instruments, one Certified Flight Multi-Engines Instructor, three Instrument Ratings and 11 solo flight experiences.
