On Saturday, October 9, 2021 the 7th Annual Kirsten McDonald Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, also known as Play the K, will be held at the Beaufort Club Golf Course. The goal of this tournament is to create a sustainable memorial to honor Kirsten's life and to support deserving youth in Carteret County.
Proceeds raised will be donated to local nonprofit organiztion, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain.
As many of you may know, Kirsten lost her life in a tragic automobile accident on March 6, 2012, exactly one month shy of her 21st birthday. Kirsten always had a beautiful, bright smile on her face. Her strong, loving personality and her passion for others - regardless of their background, education or color of their skin - radiated from within her heart and soul. Kirsten had the capacity to see beyond others' social and economic circumstances. Instead, she chose to focus on their inherent goodness.
Kirsten's spirit is well reflected by this quote...
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the beauty in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. This is to have succeeded.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
