Our Community + Our Honor

Santa Cops for Kids, founded in 2013, is a partnership between multiple Nodaway County law enforcement agencies geared toward brightening the holiday experience of area children in-need. Since the program's inception, law enforcement officers have dedicated countless hours to fundraising efforts, including the Santa Cops for Kids - Putting for Presents Golf Tournament, which helps fund the program's numerous charitable endeavors, including our year-end shopping event. During the event, uniformed law enforcement officers escort area children Christmas shopping, purchasing a plethora of needed and desired items - everything from toys and clothing to various food related products. Over the past five years, Santa Cops for Kids has assisted over five-hundred (500) area children at the shopping event alone, not to mention the other outreach ventures the team has undertaken, which include:

• Providing at-home internet access for numerous local students during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing them to access their coursework away from school.
• The formation of food pantries in two (2) Nodaway County schools.
• Funding of classroom projects and endeavors.
• The donation of funds to local families with children battling serious medical afflictions, helping aleviate a portion of the costs associated.
• Outfitting underprivileged high school youth with athletic equipment, allowing them to participate in school-based sports.
• Equipping students with required gear to enhance their technical expertise at Northwest Technical School.
• The purchase of coats and other clothing items for schools, providing students in-need with adequate attire when needed.
• And MUCH, MUCH more.

The ultimate goal of the Santa Cops for Kids team is to improve the lives of underprivileged youth across the Nodaway County area, while also building long lasting relationships with these future leaders of our community. Agencies involved in our year-round efforts include: the Maryville Police Department, the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Northwest Missouri State University Police Department, the Missouri Department of Corrections, and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
