Thank you for showing interest in the 2023 Marching Arts Golf Tournament! We are excited to evolve this tournament into a fundraiser to help drum and bugle corps performers offset the cost of member fees. As costs have skyrocketed over the past decade, many prospective performers are finding it incredibly challenging to afford our amazing activity. Our mission is to contribute as much financial support as possible to future DCI performers in an effort to support access to opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach.

There will be sponsors, raffles, small contests, and opportunities to donate, but the simplest thing you can do to support is simply JOIN US and have a great time for a good cause! Please share this event to the world so we can generate as much activity as possible and create a small, positive impact on the marching arts activity we all know and love!

SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS

In 2023, the Marching Arts Golf Tournament will benefit Pacific Crest, Mandarins, and Blue Devils--the three World Class drum corps in California. Proceeds from the event and fundraising efforts will be split amongst the organizations, to be used as financial grants to offset member fees during the upcoming summer tour.

We are accepting donations from individuals and businesses via Paypal. One Hundred Percent of each donation will go straight to the scholarship fund. Thank you for your consideration and generosity!

Tournament Details

Teams of four will start in shotgun fashion (every team starts at the same time on different holes).
Tee off will be 1:45pm, so please plan accordingly. We will all meet to get into our carts around 1:25pm and will set off to our starting holes at 1:30pm.

Please arrive early to allow time for check-in, hit some warm up balls on the driving range (included in the entry fee), socialize, and check out the items available on raffle. As a fund raiser, we would love to get many people involved in the raffles and games to support the cause.

All food and drinks during the round will be at your own discretion. The golf course has a restaurant with food, snacks, drinks, beer, etc for purchase. There is also a snack shack halfway through the course and a beverage cart that will be driving the course during the round. The restaurant will close around 4:00PM (about halfway through our round), but the bar will be open until 7:00PM.

Immediately following the round, we will all meet near the clubhouse to hand out prizes and celebrate the funds we raise. The restaurant and bar will be closed at that point, so we would like to invite you to join us all at the local BJ's for an afterparty and dinner. We will reserve a large space. We will need a headcount that morning, so please note if you will be joining us for that when you register for the event!

Tournament Rules

Four player team scramble. This means for EVERY SHOT, the team chooses the best of all four balls and hits from that location, including putts.

  • Each team must use at least one of each shot type from every player throughout the round. (One drive, one approach, one putt)

  • The maximum score for each hole will be double bogey. This is to ensure pace of play stays reasonable. (Please keep up with the group in front of you)

  • Balls out of bounds cause a one-stroke penalty and the drop must be placed in the path of the shot taken.

Mulligans, Yard Stick, and Hartwell Nudges

  • There will be mulligans available for purchase (All proceeds benefit the scholarship fundraiser). $10 per team buys each team member one mulligan.

  • BONUS!!! - If your team buys TWO mulligans ($20), each player gets one FREE Hartwell Nudge!
    • A Hartwell nudge (named after the legend Matthew "Zaddy" Hartwell), is a free nudge to fix a lie, escape a minor out-of-bounds situation, or get away from a tree. It can only be nudged a few feet and cannot be used on the green.

  • Yard Sticks - $20 per team. Use the yard stick as a way to pretend you're a good putter! If you miss a putt by 6 inches, draw a line at six inches on your yard stick, and the putt went in! You only have one yard TOTAL for the entire tournament, so be smart about how you use your inches!

Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Putting Contest, and Circle Drill

  • Longest Drive will be held on Hole 14 - A beautiful downhill, down-wind Par 4 with great views. There will be a marker on the fairway to record where you drive ended. Sign off on it if your ball passes the current record holder, and adjust the marker to the ball's location.

  • Closest to the Pin will be held on a beautiful downhill Par 3, Hole 17. There will be a marker with tape measure on the side of the green to measure your distance and record.

  • The Putting Contest will be held one hour before the tee time at 12:30PM. For an easy $5 you get two balls to putt at various targets on the green. Prizes TBD but planning on various liquid refreshments, gift cards, and/or product donated by our sponsors. Hit the prize with your putt and you win that prize! Test your putting skills to not only win prizes but raise more money for the marching arts!

  • Circle Drill is a one-rep putting contest in which every available player will focalize into a large circle around the putting green and will shoot one ball towards a singular hole all at the SAME TIME. The winner(s) are the balls that make it IN THE HOLE. This will be the last event before everyone heads over to their carts to prepare for the round.
