Teaming Up for Good is a Slagle Foundation initiative that focuses philanthropic contributions toward three main pillars: first responders, military and children. By supporting and strengthening the lives of others, Teaming Up for Good is dedicated to providing a helpful and positive presence in local communities. The foundation helps others live a full life through volunteer work, donations and sponsoring events.

Through our past events, we have successfully partnered with and supported a variety of organizations, helping them achieve their goals and make a meaningful impact. By fostering collaboration and providing valuable resources, we've been able to drive positive change and contribute to the growth of these organizations. Our efforts have not only strengthened the communities involved but have also allowed us to build lasting relationships that continue to create opportunities for future success.

This year we are proud to be working with Team Tate to help raise money to help Tate and his family.

Tate's Story

In January 2025, Tate's family began to notice subtle changes in his motor skills. His gait appeared slightly unstable, and he experienced occasional hand tremors. After consultations with the pediatrician and neurology team, further imaging was recommended. On January 31, the Bickhaus family received news that would alter their lives forever-the scans showed a large brain tumor. Just a few days later, on February 4, a neurosurgeon successfully removed Tate's tumor. The surgery went incredibly well, and #TeamTate was thrilled with his recovery. However, the next step involved pathology results and the introduction of a new medical team-oncology.

Tate has been diagnosed with Embryonal Tumor with Multilayered Rosettes, or ETMR, a rare form of pediatric brain cancer that primarily affects children under the age of 3. Recognized as a distinct entity only since 2016, there is limited understanding of effective treatments for this cancer. Despite the uncertainties, Tate is supported by an exceptional medical team that is utilizing the latest research to guide his care. In March 2025, Tate began an aggressive treatment plan, starting with chemotherapy.

Tate's treatment plan includes chemotherapy, radiation, and three autologous bone marrow transplants of his own cells. This means Tate's home will primarily be in the hospital for the next year. While Blake and Alex recognize the challenging journey ahead, they are deeply grateful for the love, support, and prayers they've received from family, friends, and the community.
