Sunday on the Green - A Blood Cancer Research Benefit Fundraiser

Proceeds from the event fund the blood cancer research programs of Dr. Joseph Tuscano, Sacramento area oncologist and researcher at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Tuscano's areas of specialty include the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Tuscano leads a small team of dedicated researchers that are driven by an intense passion and unbridled commitment to developing less toxic and more effective cancer treatments that utilize the patient’s own immune system. Together they are performing ground-breaking, innovative, grass-roots research that is leading to potential new treatments for blood cancers.

Our 2021 Honoree: We are deeply saddened to share that Gustavo Barisone, a 10-year member of the research team working with Dr. Tuscano, passed away on March 8, 2021, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Over the course of his career as a researcher, Gustavo acquired and demonstrated the skills of an immunologist that demanded thoughtful and thorough investigations. His work earned him the respect of his peers and was documented in multiple medical publications. Gustavo is our honoree for the 2021 Sunday on the Green, and while we won’t be blessed with a speech or some laughter from him at the event, our hearts will be filled with gratitude for the progress and impact he personally made to develop novel and less toxic therapeutics to treat cancer.
