Sir Isaac Newton contributed key principles to science and mathematics in the fields of optics, calculus, and mechanics. Newton's most renowned work is the theory of gravity, which holds that a universal force of attraction exists between all matter.  Newton's idea was that gravity is universal - All objects attract in proportion to the product of their masses. 

Newton was an observer. Aware enough to notice the apple fell straight down, and inquisitive enough to want to know why.
