The Colorado Open Golf Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that was formed for the primary purpose of fostering and encouraging the sport of golf in the State of Colorado through financial aid to educational programs aimed at developing the interest and ability of Colorado’s youth in the sport of golf and those who conduct or support clinics and otherwise provide coaching instruction for Colorado’s youth, and for the secondary purpose of advancing the charitable purpose of promoting sportsmanship, recreation and health in the State of Colorado

The Colorado Open Golf Foundation operates from its Learning Center on the Green Valley Ranch Campus, a 27 hole facility, 9 of which are a short course; a complete practice area including a double-ended driving range, two putting greens, two chipping greens and a full-service clubhouse. We strive to provide affordable access to children ages 5 to 18 in our programs. For a minimal fee, our participants enjoy the benefits of utilizing the golf courses, Learning Center, equipment and entering into the First Tee Life Skills Program.

First Tee – Green Valley Ranch

When we began, we knew we were opening access to the game. What we discovered was that we were also opening access to powerful personal growth.

First Tee began in 1997 as a partnership among the LPGA, the Masters Tournament, the PGA of America, the PGA TOUR, and the USGA to make golf affordable and accessible for all kids. As we introduced the game, we also introduced a life skills curriculum that supported the development of values found within the game of golf, including honesty, integrity, perseverance and respect. This was a game changer –  for the kids, and for our organization. Now, for over two decades we’ve been committed to helping kids build character strengths and important life skills through the game and providing all kids with access to opportunities for personal growth in a fun and safe environment. While we began on golf courses, we expanded by bringing our program to physical education classes across the country through our in-school and after-school programs.

Established in 2005, First Tee – Green Valley Ranch, has grown with the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood. At First Tee we’re Building Game Changers by empowering kids and teens to be the best version of themselves.

By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with character-building, we create learning experiences that help kids uncover their inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that they can carry to everything they do.

Our trained coaches not only provide an introduction to junior golf and an opportunity to enhance golf skills, but they also create a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to help your child prepare for life ahead, including friendships, school, college and even their careers.
