Tournament Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the tournament format?

Four-Person Scramble Florida Scramble - Best Ball and Maximum Team score of 7 on any hole.

Will flights or handicaps be used?

  • No flights or golf handicaps will be used. Awards are expected for the overall title winners:
    • 1st Place Team  -  4 trophies
    • 2nd Place Team  - 4 trophies

Which hole will I begin my round?

The hole assignment for your team will be provided at the registration desk. Your starting hole will also be marked on the golf carts with your last name provided.  You will receive a rules sheet for the event and all relevant information needed throughout the day.  The relevant information includes longest drive holes, closest to the flag and  tee boxes to play from for women and men competitors.

Are Golf Club Rentals available on-site? .

  • Yes. A full set rentals clubs are available for $35 (subject to change). Club rental arrangements must be made during your registration payment . Please contact the KPC Golf Event coordinator at kofpc.golfevents@gmail.com . Subject to golf club availability.

What is the best way to register as a player or a team for this event?

  • The best way to register is through the website registration portal here on this website. We are encouraging this method of registering whether you register as an individual player or as team. 
  • For those who perfer not to register or pay online - please send your registeration via mail to our national office postmarked by July 12, 2020. Checks or credit payments are to be made payble to the Claver Foundation.

To whom do I make the check or amount payable to?

  • Please include a copy of your player or team registration forms with any payments mailed into the National office.

 

What is the relationship of the Claver Foundation to the Knights of Peter Claver?

  • Claver Foundation is the charitable arm of the Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. The Claver Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.

 

Will I or my organization receive a acknowledgement of my sponsor level contribution to this event?

  • Formal acknowledgements of your contribution exceeding $500 will be mailed within 60 days of the event. Acknowledgements of other amounts can be sent via email upon request.

 

What is the purpose of this charitable event?

  • The Knights of Peter Claver National Convention Golf Classic is an annual fundraiser event. The proceeds from the golf event will be to benefit secular non-profit organizaitons and successful programs focusing on the areas of:
    • Human trafficking 
    • Domestic violence

These are the areas of Social Justice that the Knights of Peter Claver and the Claver Foundation are committed to support.  Donations can made through the Knights of Peter Claver, charitable arm, The Claver Foundation.  The Claver Foundation which is a 501c(3).  Please contact the National Office for the complete EIN: XX-XXX8126.

Miscellaneous

Is breakfast provided?

  • Coffee and a "Grab and Go" breakfast will be provided at registration at 6:30 a.m. for  all golfers, sponsors and volunteers

 

Is Lunch provided?

  • Yes lunch is included at this event for the golfers. Refer to the sponsorhip package description for more details regarding lunch.  The event will be catered event in the main clubhouse banquet hall. Additional Lunch tickets are available for purchase using the online portal.  Presentations of the trophies and winners will be acknowledged during an accompanying awards and closing ceremony. 

 

What is the Lunch menu?

  • Lunch will be a served buffet line as soon as the golfers have completed their rounds. Service will begin around 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm in the main clubhouse. Indoor as well as outdoor patio seating will be available at the host golf club.
  • The Planned Menu: Choice of up to 2 meats (smoked meats, hotlink sausage, chicken, fried catfish)
  • (1 meat only with Fish
  • Choice to 2 sides max (options: georgia collards greens, candied yams, potatoe salad, cole slaw, blackeyed peas, cabbage), bread or cornbread, Georgia Peach Cobbler/ ice cream / Unsweet and Sweet Tea, etc .
  •  Meatless/Vegan include 4 vegetable selections (advance ordering is required).

Other than the golf event, are there any other events that are open fo the public to participate and support in cooperation with the Knights and Ladies Auxiliary?

  • Yes there are several expected events that are open to the public.  Non-members as well as the general public are invited. Here are a limited lists of expected events:
    • 2020 Openening Convention Mass 
    • Gospel Extravaganza - Benefiting Religious Education
    • Founders' Gala - Benefiting Claver Foundation Initiatives
    • Public Forum - Social Justice and Human Trafficking
    • White Linen Dance - Benefiting Scholarships (Xavier University and other HBCUs) 
    • Convention Ball - Benefiting KPC National Scholarship Program

06:45 AM GOLF- Driving range open for player warm ups Golf Driving Range.
08:00 AM GOLF- Tournament 18 Hole Florida Scramble Format. Shotgun start. Starting area ALL PLAYERS GATHER. Course Welcome by host facility GM. Players announcements / rules sheet review and questions / Blessing of the Players/ Player depart to their assigned tees to begin tournament play.
08:30 AM GOLF CLINIC - Check in / Sign in desk opens TBD GC Clubhouse welcome & registration desk
10:00 AM Intro to Golf seminar and networking. 1.5 hour instructional lessons by a local golf pro at TBD GOLF COURSE TBD Golf Range - Maximum set up for 30 individuals. Must register in advance to allow prep for clubs for students and for pros to set up teaching stations in advance. Register online.
12:30 PM Golf Round ends - "Best Soul Food" Luncheon in the Clubhouse. Golf awards ceremonty ending at 1:30 pm.
