The TKW Foundation 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament: Silvertip Golf Resort | Thursday May 30, 2024
The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation is proud to join with Trellis Society to operate The Toni Kohn House, a live-in housing initiative to support young women struggling to find their way. We are so thrilled to partner with an organization whose mission, vision and values align perfectly with ours.
The Toni Kohn House provides long-term housing and comprehensive supports in a home-like living environment to young women, ages 14-24, who are at risk of living a life on the street. The Toni Kohn House is a fully furnished four bedroom townhome, that is centrally located in a residential neighborhood. The home is close to several local high schools and post-secondary institutions, recreational facilities, public transportation, and other easily accessible amenities. The program provides a home with a live-in supportive roommate, to three young women who may be experiencing considerable housing instability, alongside additional risks such as addictions, trauma, family conflict, violence and exploitation. The young women who move into Toni's House are committed to making positive lasting life changes. By providing them with a safe place to live, their basic daily needs and an extensive support system, they are able to improve their well being and build self confidence to realize their potential to live their best life. They are attending school to increase their level of education or are pursuing self-sufficiency through employment. The Toni Kohn House aligns with best practice literature in the innovative Foyer model for youth, which combines essential housing and ensuring essential needs are met so that youth can focus on higher level goals, including education, financial planning, health and fitness, social and emotional intelligence and employability.
Since opening our doors in 2017, we have seen significant transformations in the young women who call The Toni Kohn House home. Our group of alumni is continually growing with young women who have successfully transitioned from Toni’s House into independent living, and are building a bright future. We have an amazing community that surround us with love and support, and help make Toni’s House a true home for the young women who live there.
TONI KOHN-WOODWARD
June 15, 1988 - September 7, 2014
The Toni Kohn-Woodward Foundation was set up in loving memory by the Kohn Family, and Toni’s husband Stephen Woodward, to honour Toni’s passion for bringing beauty, love and light to everyone and everything she touched. Prior to her passing, Toni was deeply involved in supporting community programs that helped high risk young women realize their potential. She was passionate about giving back to her community.
Empowering young women to live their best life was a cause close to Toni’s heart, and one we are deeply committed to carry on, to keep her legacy alive.
By working with community partners, whose mission, vision and values align with ours, we are able to help provide support and services to local young women at risk who are struggling to find their way. With programs that offer extensive support and life skills development, these young women are able to foster independence, build a strong foundation for a bright future, and live their best life.
